Annual Sports Day 2016–17

The 3rd Annual Athletic Meet was held on 16 September. The Chief Guest for the day was Ms. Pratima Kollali, a swimmer of international repute. The Rector of St. Joseph’s Indian Institutions, Rev. Fr. Leo Pereira presided over the function along with the Principal Rev. Fr. Sunil Fernandes, Fr Manoj D’Souza and the Educational Consultant Ms Sucheta Kalappa. All of them inspired the students with their words of encouragement and the importance of sports in one’s life.

The students of the four houses Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald and Citrine were resplendent in their respective house colours and marched briskly past the saluting base in an opening ceremony that was filled with pride and honour. On behalf of the students the school Vice Captain swore to take part in all the events abiding by the rules and regulations. The drills and displays that were exhibited were vibrant and full of vigour. Various events and novelty races were conducted for the students of different classes. The pyramid display showcased the importance of teamwork and a cheer-leading display applauded all the athletes for their performance. The day concluded with a solemn closing ceremony that involved a brisk final march past and a prize distribution.

The best display was awarded to the Ball Display by students of Class 2, 3 and 4. Citrine House was declared the Best House. The entire day was a resounding success with students looking forward to the next Sports Day.
