Annual Athletic Meet 2017

The spirit of competition and the urge to excel was evident on the grounds of St Joseph's Indian Primary School, CBSE as the students took part in the 4th Annual Athletic Meet.

The day began with the students of the four houses Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald and Citrine taking part in a synchronised march past that was led by School Captain Keira Rafferty, School Vice Captain Suhas Reddypally and Sports Captain Jnanesh Bopanna. The students marched briskly past a saluting base and honoured the Chief Guest Ms Karuna Jain, Ekalavya Awardee and Member, Indian Women's Cricket Team, Rector Rev Fr Leo Pereira SJ, Principal Rev Fr Sunil Fernandes SJ, Vice Principal Rev Fr Vincent Pinto SJ, Educational Consultant Ms Sucheta Kalappa. The Chief Guest and the Rector spoke to the students about the role of sports in the life of a student and how encouragement and belief in oneself will ensure the positive growth and development of every individual. Sport's Captain Jnanesh Bopanna took the oath on behalf of the students and swore to take part in all events respecting the rules and regulations.

All students were part of various drills and displays that had the audience enthralled with their team work and co-ordination. The Yoga display by the students of Class 5-8 won the award for 'Best Display.'

In the true spirit of sportsmanship and healthy competition, athletes of various houses took part in races, relays and Tug of War depicting the true Josephite Spirit. The Individual Championship was won by Keira Rafferty - Class 8 and Kathiresan S - Class 8 both from Emerald House.

A loud round of applause erupted across the grounds as Sapphire House won the award for 'Best Discipline' and Emerald House won the prestigious trophy for the 'Best House' with an aggregate of 880 points followed by Ruby, Sapphire and Citrine House.

It was a fun-filled day of great sportsmanship, joy and satisfaction interspaced with a few disappointments and promises to do better at the next Athletic Meet.
