The 74 th Independence Day was celebrated with great patriotism and gusto at St Joseph’s School CBSE despite the testing times due to the pandemic.

The tricolor was hoisted by the Principal, Rev Fr Rohan D’Almeida SJ, in the presence of the Physical Education Teachers, the Coordinators, the Admin and the Support Staffaround 7.30 am on the school grounds and a floral tribute waspaid to the portraits of Mahatma Gandhi & Sri B R Ambedkar.

There was an Institutional level celebration at the Quadrangle. The programme commenced at 8.15am with the Chief Guest Rev Fr Joseph Rodrigues SJ, the Rector of St Joseph’s Indian Institutions hoisting the flag in the august presence of the Institutional Heads of Various Units of St Joseph’s Indian Institutions, members of the Inigo Sadan Community and a few staff members representing various units of St Joseph’s Indian Institutions. The meaningful celebration included a Prayer for the Nation, Patriotic Song and a thought-provoking message by Rev Fr Joseph Rodrigues SJ explaining the need for National Integration which was also expressed as a song, highlighting uniqueness of our nation & unity in diversity. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks. All the stakeholders (Students, Staff & Parents) & well-wishers of St Joseph’s Indian Institutions were invited to witness all these events from the comfort of their homes, as the entire programme was live streamed. The Physical Education Teachers coordinated the celebration with the support of the management.

St Joseph’s School CBSE went a step ahead as they thoughtfully involved the students & their parents in the celebration via virtual platform through various events.

Staff organized various age appropriate virtual competitions for the students as follows:
♦ KG to Class 2 - Fancy Dress Competition
♦ Class 3 and 4 - Patriotic Songs
♦ Class 5 and 6 - Compose a Patriotic Poem
♦ Class 7 and 8 - Create your own stamp
♦ Class 9 and 10- T-shirt painting.

Parents were also encouraged to participate in the Independence Day by sharing a Patriotic Selfie with the Family. All the competitions saw active participation from the students and parents alike.

Fr Rohan D’Almeida SJ, patriotic song by a student Sameeksha, speech by the Head Boy, Akhil Khare & the PTA Vice-President, Mr Kamal G and a melodious song by the Teachers’ Choir (sung virtually); was released on YouTube to commemorate the 74 th Independence Day celebration.
